- Hi. My name is Nancy. I'm a yoga teacher and the founder of Yoga To Go, and the Yoga Education Institute. The purpose of this blog is to give us all a place to discuss and share our yoga ideas. Look forward to hearing from you.
If you are interested in deepening your own practice or in learning to share yoga with others, now may be the time to consider participating in a yoga teacher training program. Bringing your practice to a deeper level, or learning to teach others, takes a different set of skills than those of a yoga student, and teacher training can show you how to do this. No matter what style of yoga you prefer, you can follow certain guidelines to create an effective and satisfying practice for your students or for yourself. Through yoga teacher training, you will learn:
1) Proper alignment in postures, so you can go more deeply into each one,
2) Anatomy of hatha yoga, which will teach you more about how your body works and how to develop a yoga practice that is most beneficial to your body.
3) How to sequence a practice to prevent injury and make your practice more mindful and effective.
4) How to use your breath to go further into each posture, while maintaining your ease.
5) Techniques to improve your concentration and focus during your practice and during everyday life.
6) The benefits of each posture to keep you motivated and to share that motivation and knowledge with others.
7) How to tailor your yoga practice to your specific needs, and
8) The philosophy and history of yoga and how to apply the benefits of yoga philosophy to your life.
